Beginning GIMP

My copy of Akkana Peck’s book “Beginning GIMP: From Novice to Professional” has finally arrived from Amazon. It took just a month… :)

It covers most of basic stuff as expected, even SIOX. Since Akkana used a quite early release of GIMP 2.3.x, Heal Tool and Perspective Clone are to be described in the second edition (which might appear next year when 2.4 is out), along with more detailed information on color management that has been finally shaping up in CVS HEAD for a month or so.

What is really good is that the all, I mean, really all illustrations in the book are colored. Another great thing about the book is that the author patiently explains what you actually do instead of simply listing steps to achieve a goal.

Kudos to Akkana!
