SVN at openfontlibrary.org

Jon Philips has created another SVN repo for OpenFontLibrary, the one we should have started with: openfontlibrary_fonts.

It has nothing inside yet, but as soon as I come around fd.o sitewranglers to have my password issue fixed, I will start uploading some stuff I’ve been working on for a while ;)

Anonymous access:

svn co svn://anonsvn.freedesktop.org/svn/openfontlibrary/openfontlibrary_fonts/trunk ofl_fonts

Developer access:

svn co svn+ssh://svn.freedesktop.org/svn/openfontlibrary/openfontlibrary_fonts/trunk ofl_fonts

If you want to contribute, go ahead and subscribe to the mailing list to tell us about fonts you are working on.

Preview release of sK1 for testers

Here is the first preview release of sK1, a vector graphics editor optimized for printing.

https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=99814

Please test it and tell its developers

  • how it installs on your Linux system, whether there were any issues;
  • how easy to use it is (e.g. manipulation of objects on canvas).

Please note that target user group of sK1 are Corel DRAW users migrating to Linux, so experience of using this application is rather a must. Also, please consider not telling developers about Inkscape, XaraLX etc. They are not interested in porting result of 2,5 years long work to some other project.

Developers kindly ask you not to post news about release to osnews.com, slashdot.org etc.

Update: a patch to fix compilation is available at the same URL. Unpack the archive to the root directory of source code, replacing several files, and run ./apply_patch.sh script, then sudo ./install.sh again. The plan is to move to CMake soon.

Conference in Obninsk

On 26th of July I’ll be giving a talk at a FOSS developers conference in Obninsk about standards in open source software for authoring and processing graphics. The plan is to speak about CREATE and Shared Resources, OpenRaster/CPX/XCF2, SVG, DNG and OpenIcc.
